Requirements

Legal Requirements

  • Both partners must be over 18
  • At least one partner must be baptized
  • One partner must live in the parish or have a qualifying connection
  • Notice of marriage must be given to the registrar
  • Banns must be read in church for 3 consecutive Sundays

Church Requirements

  • Regular church attendance (at least 6 months) if no previous qualifying connection
  • Meeting with the vicar to discuss the service
  • Music choices discussed with the Vicar

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need to be church members to get married here?

At least one partner needs to have a qualifying connection to the parish, such as living here or being baptized here.

How far in advance should we book?

We recommend booking at least 12 months in advance, especially for popular dates like Saturdays in summer.

Can we have our own music and readings?

Yes, we welcome your choices for music and readings, subject to approval by the vicar and organist.

Is photography allowed during the ceremony?

Yes, photography is welcome during the ceremony, but we ask photographers to be respectful and not disruptive.
